Battery Disassembly Technician, Energy Storage

Description:

  • Perform safe, controlled disassembly of EV and energy storage battery packs down to the module and component level.
  • Execute high-voltage isolation, verification, and handling procedures in accordance with LOTO and PPE requirements.
  • Sort, classify, and route battery components for reuse, recycling, or disposal following environmental and production guidelines.
  • Operate in a high-throughput production environment while meeting performance targets and maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment to support disassembly, inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Safely handle, transport, and lift large-format battery systems using forklifts, cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support continuous improvement, workspace organization, and compliance with quality and EHS standards.
  • Support field operations as needed for battery system decommissioning, including on-site disassembly and material recovery.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and strict safety standards.
  • Must comply with high-voltage safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
  • Must meet all requirements for use of a full-face respirator, including medical clearance and fit testing, per OSHA and company standards.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical fastening systems, electrical connections, and component-level disassembly techniques.
  • Prior rigging and heavy material handling experience is strongly preferred; training and certification may be provided for candidates with foundational mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment and mechanical lifts; training will be provided.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for field operations and battery system decommissioning.
  • Participation in internal and external training programs such as LOTO, lifting/rigging, and high-voltage battery basics.
