Staff Clinician - Boston Campus
Overview
What You'll Do
Location: Boston Site (Provides virtual services to the Grafton Site)
Schedule: 40 hours/week; 4 days on-site, 1 day remote.
- Direct Clinical Service:
- Initial Consultations (ICs): Conduct Initial Consultation appointments to determine the most helpful resources and next steps for students, accommodating same-day or next-day appointments.
- Therapeutic Services: Provide a full range of psychological services, including individual therapy and group therapy, crisis management, and referral.
- Post-Hospitalization Support: Conduct assessments and facilitate meetings for students returning to campus following a hospitalization or a stay at an off-campus mental health treatment facility to ensure appropriate continuity of care.
- Student of Concern Response: Manage outreach and follow-up on Student of Concern cases, collaborating with campus intervention teams to facilitate wellness checks and coordinated care.
- Consultation: Provide clinical consultation to other members of the Tufts community regarding students of concern.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
- Care Management Appointments & Referral Services
- Conduct Care Management appointments to assist students in securing long-term counseling or specialized psychiatric care.
- Monitor and process Protocall after-hours reports to ensure timely clinical follow-up care and linkage to services.
- Facilitate off-campus mental health referrals and assist students in navigating insurance benefits.
- Maintain and expand a database of local and regional referral resources, prioritizing high-need and underserved populations.
- Provide coaching support to help students develop independence in accessing community resources.
- Outreach and training:
- Conduct brief, mandatory 15-minute non-clinical outreach screenings for incoming Boston Health Science and Grafton cohorts annually to identify at-risk students.
- Manage high-volume student interactions during orientation periods while maintaining clinical quality.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with campus partners to provide mental health consultation and support cross-departmental student wellbeing initiatives.
- Orientation: Participate in orientation and outreach activities for incoming and returning students.
- Administrative:
- Documentation: Utilize the electronic medical record system (Medicat One) for scheduling and timely documentation.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports on care coordination and referral activities for Boston, Grafton, and Maine.
- Compliance: Complete and maintain clinical documentation in accordance with university policies, procedures, and relevant ethical and legal standards.
- Meetings: Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and other departmental meetings as required.
- Professional Standards: Maintain awareness of legal and ethical principles, best practices, and current developments in the field.
- Emergency Services:
- Crisis Management: Provide direct assessment, crisis management, and safety planning, including arranging assessments at the ER when indicated.
- Campus Partnership: Collaborate successfully with other campus services, such as campus police, student health service, and Deans, to manage mental health emergencies
What We're Looking For
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
- Master's Degree
- Demonstrated experience and expertise working with diverse populations including, but not limited to, communities of color, LGBTQI+ students, Transgender and non-binary students, as well as students of different ethnicities and immigration histories
- Clinical experience involving brief therapy, preferably with a college student/young adult population.
- Strong generalist experience working with a variety of issues common in college populations, including stress and anxiety management, eating and body image issues, sexual and other forms of trauma, substance abuse, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidality, depression, and mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, etc.
- Independent MA mental health provider license: LICSW upon Hire
- 3+ years of post-license clinical experience
- Skilled in triage and Initial Consultations, with the ability to quickly determine the best type of service to meet client needs and goals.
- Experience addressing crises in a college or university setting.
- Bilingual/multilingual skills.
- Working knowledge of social service agencies and Medicaid/MassHealth eligibility.
Pay Range
Minimum $72,500.00, Midpoint $90,700.00, Maximum $108,900.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
