Quality Inspector, Composites (2nd Shift)

With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. ## About this role Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our Quality Assurance team for the 2nd Shift at Building 527, Marina, CA, 93933, US. In this role you will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of composite materials and parts for a VTOL electric aircraft. The inspection process will help baseline the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to production-ready hardware. Our team operates in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment and we are looking for like-minded individuals who want to make a mark in the transportation industry. ### Typical activities you would perform - Participate in the development of the quality inspection system - Perform incoming inspection on supplied composite material - Perform in-process inspection during the layup process for composite material - Perform final inspection on completed composite parts - Perform final inspection on the completed Work Order paperwork package - Perform ad hoc part and process inspections ### What we require High school diploma or GED required. Candidates should have a basic understanding of quality concepts (training can be provided) and a willingness to learn measurement techniques and tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers). You must be able to follow instructions and learn how to read simple drawings or work instructions, and have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and simple measurements). Strong attention to detail, the ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records, and a willingness to learn basic inspection and testing methods are important. The role also requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment and good communication skills with a positive attitude toward learning new skills. ### Additional skills that are desirable - 1+ years of on-the-job aerospace experience - General knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and understanding of the x, y, z coordinate system - Basic knowledge of statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data, and how to recognize out-of-control conditions - Basic knowledge of plan-do-check-act (PDCA) - ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certificate ### Compensation and benefits Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $24-$30 per hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
