Lead Air Traffic Controller

Our client, a major international airport in Miami, Florida, US , is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Air Traffic Controller to ensure the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic. This critical role involves managing a team of air traffic controllers, overseeing daily operations, and upholding the highest standards of safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of air traffic control procedures, excellent decision-making capabilities under pressure, and strong leadership qualities. You will be instrumental in maintaining seamless operations within one of the busiest airspaces in the country.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of air traffic controllers in assigned sectors. Monitor radar displays, communication systems, and weather information to manage air traffic flow effectively. Apply established air traffic control procedures and techniques to ensure the separation of aircraft and prevent collisions. Issue clearances, instructions, and advisories to pilots in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Manage emergency situations, providing essential guidance and support to pilots and ground personnel. Train and mentor junior controllers, providing ongoing performance feedback and skill development. Ensure adherence to all FAA regulations, policies, and safety standards. Collaborate with airline operations, airport authorities, and other relevant agencies to optimize air traffic management. Conduct regular safety briefings and contribute to the development and implementation of safety initiatives. Maintain situational awareness of all traffic in the controlled airspace, anticipating potential conflicts. Participate in operational reviews and contribute to process improvements. Serve as a primary point of contact for operational issues and resolutions.
Qualifications:
FAA Air Traffic Control Certification (Tower, Approach, or En Route). Minimum of 10 years of experience as a certified Air Traffic Controller. At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within air traffic control. Demonstrated expertise in managing complex and high-volume airspaces. Thorough knowledge of air traffic control theory, regulations, and best practices. Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure. Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in dynamic and demanding situations. Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Proficiency with modern air traffic control systems, including radar and communication equipment. Commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
